PC and PS5 Crossplay Games: What Actually Works in 2026
"Crossplay supported" doesn't tell the whole story
You see "crossplay" on a game's store page and assume your PC friend and your PS5 friend can play together. Then you buy it, try to party up, and discover that crossplay means PS5-to-Xbox only. Or that it's there but you have to jump through five menus to enable it. Or that it worked at launch but got quietly removed in an update.
This happens more than you'd think. Studios throw "crossplay" on the feature list without specifying which platforms can actually connect to each other.
The combos that matter
When people say "crossplay" they usually mean one of these:
- Full crossplay - Every platform can play with every other platform. PC, PS5, Xbox, Switch, all in the same lobby.
- Partial crossplay - Some platforms can connect but not all. Common example: PS5 and Xbox can play together but PC is excluded (or vice versa).
- Console-only crossplay - PS5 and Xbox work together but PC players are in their own pool. Usually for competitive shooters where mouse vs controller is a balancing issue.
- Opt-in crossplay - It exists but has to be enabled in settings, or you have to use a specific matchmaking mode.
The store page doesn't tell you which type a game has. You have to dig through patch notes or Reddit threads to find out.

When your group is on more than two platforms
If your group has PC, PS5, AND Xbox players, the question gets harder. A game might support PC-to-PS5 crossplay and PS5-to-Xbox crossplay but not PC-to-Xbox directly (rare, but it happens).
