Add to Discord

Setup in 4 steps

  1. 1.Click "Add to Discord" above and select your server.
  2. 2.Run /gameboard setup in any channel. The bot will create or link a board.
  3. 3.Members link their accounts via "Continue with Discord" on the website, or with a manual code using /gameboard link.
  4. 4.Run /gameboard launch to open the activity, or /gameboard results to see current matches. Each member needs to add the app to their Discord account first - click on the bot in the member list and hit "Add App".

Frequently asked questions

What permissions does the bot need?

Send Messages, Embed Links, and Use Slash Commands. The bot does not read your messages, manage channels, or access any private data.

How do members link their accounts?

Each member links their own account by signing in with Discord OAuth on the website, or by generating a one-time code in Settings and running /gameboard link in Discord.

Can I use slash commands without linking?

You need to link your account to vote on games and see personal results. However, any server member can run /gameboard results to see the board's current matches.

The activity won't load. What do I do?

Each person needs to add the app to their own Discord account before the activity will launch. Click on the PickThe.Games bot in the server member list, then click "Add App" on the bot's profile. After that, try launching the activity again.

Does the embedded activity work on mobile?

Yes. The Discord embedded activity works on both desktop and mobile Discord apps. Mobile uses token-based auth to work around third-party cookie limitations.

Can I add the bot to multiple servers?

Yes. Each server gets its own board. Members can be part of multiple servers and boards simultaneously.

Installing the bot does not automatically link your Discord account. Each user links their own account separately, either through Discord OAuth or a manual code.
